Veteran forward Nicolas Batum has reached an agreement to return to the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year, $11.5 million deal.
The contract includes a team option for the second season, giving the Clippers flexibility moving forward, as well as a trade kicker clause to protect Batum in the event of a future deal.
This marks a reunion between Batum and the Clippers after he rejoined the team last offseason.
Batum was originally dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers in the blockbuster James Harden trade during the 2023–24 season but ultimately found his way back to Los Angeles.
Despite a modest statistical output, Batum remains a valuable contributor due to his veteran experience, defensive versatility, and ability to space the floor.
He averaged 4.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 17.5 minutes over 78 games last season.
Set to turn 37 in December, Batum is still regarded as a steady rotation player who can contribute to a playoff-caliber team. He is represented by agent Bouna Ndiaye.
The Clippers, who are looking to maintain a mix of veteran leadership and roster depth following the departure of Paul George, clearly value Batum’s locker room presence and on-court IQ.
