The Los Angeles Lakers are currently not exploring trade scenarios involving guard Austin Reaves, according to a report from The Athletic.

A team source emphasized that the front office has made no outreach to other teams to assess Reaves’ market value, signaling their intention to keep him as part of their core.

Reaves recently declined a four-year, $89.2 million extension offer from the Lakers, with an eye toward potentially securing a larger deal in the 2026 offseason.

His decision suggests confidence in his continued growth and rising value around the league.

Though his skill set slightly overlaps with star playmakers like LeBron James and Luka Doncic, especially in terms of usage and playmaking responsibilities, Reaves solidified himself last season as a near All-Star level contributor.

He averaged an impressive 20.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game, all while continuing to show strong efficiency and versatility on the offensive end. Reaves is represented by agent Aaron Reilly.

Despite Reaves being viewed as the Lakers’ most attractive trade chip should they eventually look to restructure the roster, the organization has shown no indication of going in that direction at this point.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles is expected to utilize its $14.1 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception to pursue a center.

Brook Lopez, Clint Capela, and Deandre Ayton are among the frontcourt players being considered as potential additions to bolster the team’s interior presence.
