What jumped out right away to me from Wednesday’s first round was New Orleans Pelicans senior VP of basketball operations Troy Weaver’s past moves with the Detroit Pistons came back during 2025.
In 2022, former Pistons GM Weaver selected Jaden Ivey 5th overall and then traded to get the 13th pick for Jalen Duren.
Three years later, Weaver is part of the Pelicans’ front office that selected Jeremiah Fears as the 7th pick/traded for the #13 pick to get Derik Queen, another guard/big combo.
