The Phoenix Suns have held several meetings with Kevin Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, over the past week as both sides explore multiple trade possibilities.

These discussions aim to identify the best path forward for Durant’s next destination and to structure a deal that suits all parties involved.

Among the teams that have expressed interest in acquiring the player are the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks.

In addition to these well-known suitors, several unexpected or “wild card” teams have emerged recently, adding complexity to the trade landscape.

As the NBA draft approaches, it is expected that the pace and intensity of these negotiations will increase significantly.

Durant is currently under contract for the 2025-26 season with a salary of $54.7 million. A key factor in any potential trade could be Durant’s desire for a contract extension as part of the deal.

Starting July 6, Durant will be eligible to sign a two-year extension that could be worth up to $112 million. Alternatively, if he chooses to wait six months before signing, the extension value could rise to as much as $124 million.

Notably, the Golden State Warriors came close to acquiring Durant in a trade last season before he decided he wanted to finish the year with the Suns.

This history adds an interesting layer to the ongoing trade discussions.
