Jordan Ott is shaping the Phoenix Suns’ coaching staff as he prepares for the 2025-26 season. According to insider John Gambadoro, DeMarre Carroll is expected to join as the team’s third assistant coach. Carroll played alongside Ott in Brooklyn and coached with him in Los Angeles and Cleveland.
Gambadoro also revealed that Ott plans to bring in a former head coach as a top assistant. While David Fizdale will not be retained, Stephen Silas remains a candidate for a prominent role. Fizdale is currently on the Suns’ roster of assistants but will be replaced under Ott’s direction.
The current Suns coaching staff includes notable names like Chaisson Allen, Brent Barry, Chad Forcier, Mike Hopkins, Vince Legarza, James Posey, and Schuyler Rimmer.
Ott, introduced as head coach after Phoenix’s 36-46 finish in 2024-25, emphasized hard work and player development during his introductory press conference. General Manager Brian Gregory praised Ott’s offensive schemes and defensive intensity as reasons for his hire.
The Suns aim to rebuild through a more aggressive style on both ends of the floor. Ott’s player development background will guide his approach, with a focus on high-character players and efficient, cutting-heavy offense.
Ott has stressed the importance of fitting into the Phoenix community and connecting personally with players.
