Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green believes Oklahoma City’s championship run hinges more on Alex Caruso than Chet Holmgren.

During the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show With Baron Davis,” Green explained why the veteran guard is more vital to the Thunder’s success than their rookie center.

“When I look at this OKC team, I actually think the third-most-important player is Alex Caruso,” Green said, via NBC Sports Bay Area, citing Caruso’s championship pedigree and ability to impact winning without being the focus of opposing scouting reports.

Oklahoma City evened the NBA Finals at one game apiece with a 123-107 Game 2 win over Indiana.

While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way with 34 points, it was Caruso who delivered a critical boost off the bench.

The 31-year-old scored 20 points in 23 minutes, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and hitting four of his eight attempts from deep.

Caruso’s experience was evident as he helped guide the second unit through a decisive 19-2 second-quarter run that blew the game open.

The Pacers never recovered after Caruso capped the surge with a corner triple, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Green, a four-time champion himself, emphasized that playoff experience can’t be overstated and warned coaches not to overlook Caruso.

“If I’m an opposing coach, I’m saying Caruso’s been in this moment,” Green said. “He’s shown he can deliver in this moment.”

Holmgren, the No. 2 pick in the 2022 draft, finished Game 2 with 15 points and six rebounds.

Despite his length and shot-blocking ability, the 7-footer has not yet shown the same consistency or composure under pressure that Caruso brings.

Caruso’s postseason averages—9.6 points on 46% shooting and 41.6% from three—underscore his growing impact in high-leverage situations.

Caruso, acquired from the Bulls in the offseason, has added defensive grit and championship experience to a young Thunder roster.

Game 3 is set for Wednesday night in Indianapolis, where the Pacers will host their first NBA Finals game in 25 years.
