The Phoenix Suns may intensify their pursuit of a trade involving Kevin Durant as the 2025 NBA Draft approaches.
According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the organization is particularly interested in acquiring draft assets in any potential deal, indicating they may seek additional picks in this year’s draft.
If that’s the case, a scenario could unfold where another team makes a selection on Phoenix’s behalf, with the trade officially completed once the new league year begins in July.
One franchise that has been linked to Durant is the San Antonio Spurs.
The Spurs are believed to be in the market for a high-level veteran presence to bolster their emerging core, which features rising star Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox, who was brought in at last season’s trade deadline.
To entice Phoenix, San Antonio could assemble a trade package that includes promising young talent, players on expiring contracts, and future draft picks.
Given that the Suns have publicly expressed a desire to remain competitive rather than entering a rebuilding phase, a proposal that combines immediate contributors with long-term assets might be particularly appealing to their front office.
