The Golden State Warriors have officially announced that the seventh edition of the California Classic Summer League will be held on July 5, 6, and 8 at Chase Center in San Francisco.
The event, now a staple of the NBA’s offseason calendar, will once again serve as an early showcase for young talent and developing players ahead of the larger Las Vegas Summer League.
This year’s California Classic will feature four teams: the Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, and San Antonio Spurs.
Each team will play three games across the three-day event, facing each of the other participating teams once.
The round-robin format provides an opportunity for teams to evaluate rookies, sophomores, and other young prospects in a competitive setting.
Notably, the Spurs, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, could use the California Classic to give fans their first look at their top selection.
Dylan Harper, widely projected as the likely No. 2 pick, may make his unofficial NBA debut during the event, adding to the intrigue and excitement around the Spurs’ participation.
The California Classic was originally launched by the Sacramento Kings in 2018 and has rotated between Sacramento and San Francisco in recent years, with the Kings and Warriors alternating as hosts.
While the event had expanded to include six teams in 2023 and eight teams, including China’s national team, in 2024, it will scale back to a four-team format in 2025.
This marks the first year the Kings will not be involved in the competition.
Simultaneously, the Salt Lake City Summer League will be hosted by the Utah Jazz during the same time frame.
Following both events, the highly anticipated Las Vegas Summer League, featuring all 30 NBA franchises, will run from July 10 to July 20.
The California Classic remains an important developmental platform for players and a fan-favorite event that offers an early glimpse into the league’s next generation of stars.
