Masai Ujiri, president of basketball operations for the Toronto Raptors, plans to stay with the team until they return to championship contention. This was reported by Michael Grange of SportsNet, who highlighted Ujiri’s commitment beyond contract discussions.
Ujiri has expressed a strong desire to win again after the Raptors’ 2019 title. He did not fully enjoy that championship experience due to a legal incident with a police officer at Oracle Arena, which has since been resolved in his favor.
The Raptors missed the playoffs for a third straight season in 2024–25, finishing 11th in the Eastern Conference with a 30-52 record. Toronto’s elimination came after a loss to the Chicago Bulls on April 1, marking a low point for the franchise in recent years.
Grange noted that neither Ujiri nor Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) has shown any signs of wanting to part ways. “There is nothing imminent,” a source said, confirming Ujiri’s current focus remains on rebuilding the team.
Ujiri’s goal is to restore the Raptors to championship form despite the challenges.
