After firing GM Calvin Booth just before the 2024–25 season ends, the Denver Nuggets enter a crucial offseason without a general manager.

Whoever takes over will have to build a competitive roster around Nikola Jokic, despite lacking a 2025 draft pick and facing financial pressure that could impact the starting lineup.

According to The Denver Post’s Bennett Durando, interim GM Ben Tenzer is a strong internal candidate, having led Denver’s G League team and worked with the organization since 2005.

Assistant GM Tommy Balcetis is also a possibility, though vice chairman Josh Kroenke hasn’t ruled out looking externally.

Names linked to the job include Minnesota’s Matt Lloyd, known for bold moves like trading into last year’s lottery, and Miami’s Andy Elisburg and the Clippers’ Trent Redden.

High-profile free agents like former Warriors GM Bob Myers could be in play, though he’d likely require a major offer to leave his ESPN role.

Durando also mentions former Nuggets executive Tim Connelly, now with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Though he has an opt-out, a return to Denver appears unlikely after the Nuggets passed on matching Minnesota’s last offer.
