Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been fined $50,000 by the NBA for making a comment deemed inappropriate and interpreted as questioning the integrity of the game’s officiating.

The league announced the disciplinary action in a press release, citing concerns over the nature of Green’s remarks.

The fine is reportedly linked to an incident late in the fourth quarter of Game 3, as noted by Shams Charania.

Although Green’s comments weren’t audible during the live broadcast, video footage appeared to show him on the bench telling his teammates that the Minnesota Timberwolves had been favored by 5.5 points before the game.

He followed up with the statement, “I know what they’re doing,” seemingly implying that the officiating was influenced by betting lines.

At the time of the remark, the Warriors were trailing by eight points. They ultimately narrowed the gap with a late three-pointer, finishing the game with a 102-97 loss.

The NBA has a longstanding policy against any suggestion that officials are biased or influenced by gambling interests.

While Green’s comments may have been indirect, the league interpreted them as an implication that the referees were shaping the game’s outcome in line with betting expectations – a serious accusation in the eyes of league officials.

Green joins a growing list of players, including Luka Doncic, Trae Young, and Rudy Gobert, who have been fined in recent years for gestures or remarks seen as calling into question the impartiality of referees, particularly those hinting at monetary or gambling-related influence.
