Tyler Herro remains a core piece of the Miami Heat’s roster – and possibly its future. Team president Pat Riley emphasized that the organization values Herro highly, but didn’t commit to an extension just yet.

“We’ve already talked about it. I’ve talked about it with Tyler,” Riley said.

“Definitely Tyler is deserving of the thought of an extension. But are we going to do it? We haven’t committed to it. But we’re going to discuss it. I’ve already talked to him about it. He’s cool (with whatever happens).”

The front office sees Herro and Bam Adebayo as foundational players, and while no long-term deal is currently in place, the door is open for one to be negotiated this summer.

Herro has played 6 seasons for the Heat. He has averaged 19.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in 361 regular-season games. He has won 1 Sixth Man of the Year award.
