Julius Randle, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ big man, endured a challenging stretch during the regular season when a groin injury kept him sidelined for over a month.
Despite the setback, Randle used the time off as an opportunity to reflect and better understand how he could contribute to his new team.
In an interview with Marc Spears of Andscape, Randle explained how he used his injury hiatus to reassess his role and find ways to impact his teammates.
“When I got injured those few weeks, I was able to see what the team needed, kind of see better how things are done and how I can best help us win games,” Randle said.
“So, usually when I get injured, I try to come back better than I was before and really that was my focus. It was just learning the teammates, learning the system, adjusting, learning how I can best help the team.”
Randle’s focus on growth and adjustment translated into strong performances when he returned to action during the Timberwolves’ first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers.
He averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game, showcasing his ability to integrate with his teammates and contribute to the team’s success during a crucial postseason matchup.
