Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown has been pushing through a nagging right knee injury for the past several weeks, something he’s acknowledged publicly.

The team has regularly included Brown on its injury report with what’s been labeled a “right knee impingement,” though sources close to the situation have also described it as a bone bruise.

To manage the discomfort and accelerate recovery, Brown reportedly received a painkilling injection in the knee this week.

The goal is to reduce inflammation and allow the knee to heal more effectively in time for the start of the postseason.

Despite the injury, Brown is expected to be available when the Celtics open their playoff campaign next weekend, either Saturday or Sunday.

Boston enters the playoffs as the second seed in the Eastern Conference and will face the winner of the 7 vs. 8 Play-In Tournament matchup, which will be either the Orlando Magic or the Atlanta Hawks.

While Brown may not be 100% entering the postseason, the Celtics are optimistic that the injection will help him manage the issue and continue contributing at a high level as they look to make a deep playoff run.
