The NBA has officially rescinded the technical foul issued to Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards during Friday night’s game, making him eligible to play in the team’s regular-season finale on Sunday.

This decision carries significant weight, as the Timberwolves are still in the thick of the race for playoff positioning in the Western Conference.

Initially, Friday’s technical was Edwards’s 18th of the season, which would have triggered an automatic one-game suspension under NBA rules.

The league mandates a one-game suspension after a player accumulates 16 technical fouls in a season, and then again for every two technical fouls thereafter.

However, with the league reversing the call, Edwards’s total returns to 17, allowing him to avoid suspension and remain available for Sunday’s crucial matchup.

It’s also worth noting that once the playoffs begin, players’ regular-season technical foul counts are reset.

Edwards will start the postseason with a clean slate and won’t be at risk of suspension due to prior technicals.
