Injuries and an inability to protect leads have emerged as the primary obstacles preventing the Miami Heat from securing a higher seed in the playoffs, pushing the team into the play-in tournament for the third consecutive year, according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.
The Heat’s struggles were evident in their overtime loss to Milwaukee on Saturday, where they were forced to play without key contributors: Andrew Wiggins, Tyler Herro, who is dealing with a right thigh contusion, and Nikola Jovic, sidelined due to a broken right hand.
Despite the setback, the Heat’s guard Davion Mitchell expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome adversity, reflecting on their past challenges and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.
“We’re going through adversity, we’ve been through it before,” Mitchell said, referencing the team’s earlier struggles, including a 10-game losing streak last month. “I think it’s good for us, especially with the postseason coming up. You know there are going to be close games and we’ve been through the fire before. So this is a good loss for us, honestly. We’re going to learn from it and we’re going to keep going.”
Mitchell has played 4 seasons for the Kings, Raptors, and Heat. He has averaged 7.5 points and 3.3 assists in 297 regular-season games.
