Joel Embiid is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee next week. The procedure aims to alleviate the persistent symptoms that Embiid has been dealing with, allowing him to return to peak performance levels.
Doctors are optimistic about his recovery; he is expected to fully recover from the surgery.
In late February, the Philadelphia 76ers officially ruled Embiid out for the remainder of the 2024-2025 NBA season.
Until that point, he had played in only 19 games, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.
This surgery marks the second time in just over a year that Embiid has needed to address issues with his left knee.
Despite undergoing several rounds of imaging and treatment for persistent pain and swelling, his knee remained problematic, leading to the decision to proceed with surgery in hopes of addressing the issue more effectively.
In September, Embiid and the 76ers reached an agreement on a three-year, $193 million contract extension, securing his place with the team for the foreseeable future.
