In an interview with Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Justin Champagnie opened up about the challenges he faced in his pursuit of an NBA career, admitting that he had considered giving up on his dream several times over the past three years.
The 23-year-old small forward, who struggled to earn a roster spot, saw his perseverance pay off this season when he signed a four-year, $10 million contract with the Washington Wizards, which includes $1.8 million in guaranteed money.
Reflecting on his journey, Champagnie shared, “To be honest with you, I probably thought about quitting three or four times. I always told myself no matter what happens, stay grounded, remember where you came from, keep doing what you’re doing, and let it be what it’s going to be.”
Champagnie has played 4 seasons for the Wizards, Raptors, and Celtics. He has averaged 5.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 109 regular-season games.
