Marcus Sasser erupted for a career-high 27 points in 26 minutes off the bench as the Detroit Pistons dominated the San Antonio Spurs 122-96 on Tuesday night.
Detroit (41-32) secured its second straight victory without Cade Cunningham, who remained sidelined with a left calf injury. Tobias Harris contributed 15 points and eight rebounds, while Jalen Duren added 14 points and seven assists.
Sasser provided a major offensive spark after scoring 20 points in 26 minutes during Sunday’s 136-130 win over New Orleans. His previous career high was 26 points in November 2023 against Milwaukee.
San Antonio (31-40) struggled without injured stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox, both ruled out for the season. Devin Vassell led the Spurs with 26 points, and rookie Stephon Castle finished with 19.
Detroit controlled the game early, outscoring the Spurs 30-12 in the second quarter to take a commanding 60-34 halftime lead. The Pistons shot 56.4% from the field and connected on 15 of 31 three-pointers (48.4%).
San Antonio managed just 36.3% shooting from the floor and fell to 11-23 on the road. The loss ended the Spurs’ three-game winning streak and left them three games behind the final play-in spot in the Western Conference.
With the win, Detroit moved within a percentage point of the Milwaukee Bucks (40-31) for fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
