Bill Chisholm has reached an agreement to acquire the Boston Celtics in a historic deal valued at $6.1 billion, setting a new record for an NBA franchise.

Before the Grousbeck family officially accepted his bid, Chisholm engaged in extensive discussions with Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens, ensuring alignment on the team’s future.

Chisholm emphasized that he has no plans to interfere with the franchise’s current trajectory as a consistent championship contender.

“It’s the most incredible feeling to think that maybe I can just play a tiny little part in the future,” he expressed. “And now I’ll just let these guys do what they’re doing, let Brad do his thing. If I can help in any way, that’s amazing to think about.”

In addition to speaking with Stevens, Chisholm also had separate conversations with Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, who both extended their congratulations on the purchase.

He reassured them that his primary focus was to offer support without disrupting the team’s mission.

“I was just telling them, ‘However I can help, let me know,’” Chisholm said. “I just want to be here to support you guys, and I don’t want to take much of your time because you have a real job at hand here tonight, and for the next couple months. So let’s get it done, and if you need any help, let me know.’”
