The Portland Trail Blazers could face a difficult financial decision when it comes to Deni Avdija’s next contract, according to Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report.

Because Avdija is currently set to earn just $11.9 million in 2027-28, Portland would be limited in how much it could offer him through a traditional veteran extension, likely far below his projected market value.

Highkin notes that if the Blazers want to avoid waiting for Avdija to reach free agency, they may need to create cap space next offseason in order to renegotiate his 2027-28 salary first.

Increasing that figure would also allow Portland to offer him a significantly larger long-term extension at the same time.

Avdija has played 6 seasons for the Wizards and Trail Blazers. He has averaged 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 425 regular-season games.
