Andrew Wiggins, the key acquisition for the Miami Heat in the trade that sent Jimmy Butler elsewhere, was sidelined for Wednesday’s game due to a lower left leg contusion.

His availability has been inconsistent since joining Miami, as he has only played in 11 of the team’s 19 games since the deal, as noted by Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.

When on the court, Wiggins has delivered solid individual performances, averaging 18.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while shooting 42.2% from the field and 30.9% from beyond the arc.

However, his contributions have yet to translate into team success, with the Heat managing just a 2-9 record in games he has played.

Despite the struggles, head coach Erik Spoelstra remains optimistic about Wiggins’ impact and potential.

“He’s had some really good moments already,” Spoelstra acknowledged. “You can see the firepower he brings and the versatility that he brings to us defensively. And we have who we have tonight. He’s not available, but we definitely could use him.”
