The Washington Wizards have ruled out Corey Kispert for the remainder of the season following surgery on his left thumb.
The team announced that Kispert underwent a procedure in New York City to repair a ligament tear, an injury sustained on March 15 against the Denver Nuggets. Washington expects him to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of next season.
Kispert, 26, has been averaging 11.6 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while playing 26.4 minutes per game this year. The fourth-year forward has been one of the few consistent contributors on a struggling Wizards team.
Washington currently sits at 15-52, placing them 15th in the Eastern Conference with the league’s second-worst record. With Kispert sidelined, the Wizards will continue their rebuild while focusing on player development for the remainder of the season.
