Corey Kispert has emerged as a player of interest for Atlanta in any potential Trae Young trade with Washington.

NBA insider Marc Stein reports that if the Hawks and Wizards reach an agreement, Atlanta would like Kispert included in the deal.

Kispert has been limited to 19 games this season because of thumb and hamstring injuries, but when healthy he has provided efficient shooting in a rotation role.

He is averaging 9.2 points in under 20 minutes per game while shooting well from the floor and beyond the arc.

From Washington’s perspective, salary matching remains the main challenge.

CJ McCollum’s $30.7 million expiring contract alone is not enough to cover Young’s $46 million cap hit, making Kispert’s $14 million salary a clean way to make the trade legal.

For the Hawks, the trade-off is long-term flexibility. Kispert is in the first year of a four-year, $54 million extension, which would limit future cap space.

Still, adding a reliable wing while removing Young’s $49 million player option for 2026–27 could make the math appealing.

While Washington is seen as Young’s preferred landing spot, Atlanta is still exploring the market and has time to see if other suitors emerge.

Even so, Stein notes that McCollum and Kispert are increasingly viewed as the likely pieces heading to Atlanta if a deal is completed.
