Anthony Edwards put on a scoring clinic in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 128-102 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night. The All-Star guard finished with 41 points but admitted he had an even bigger goal in mind.

“I wanted to go for like 60,” Edwards said postgame, per Chris Hine. “I thought I was on pace after the first, but when you sit a little bit, you get kind of cold.”

Minnesota (40-29) extended its winning streak to eight games while keeping pace with Golden State in the battle for the Western Conference’s sixth seed. The Timberwolves dominated from the start, jumping out to a 34-20 first-quarter lead and never looking back.

Edwards caught fire early, scoring 19 points in the first eight minutes. He finished the game shooting 16-of-27 from the field, including five made three-pointers.

Jaden McDaniels added 20 points and 12 rebounds, posting a double-double by halftime. Donte DiVincenzo contributed 11 points and seven assists, helping Minnesota control the tempo.

The Jazz (15-53) dropped their ninth straight game despite 22 points from Collin Sexton. Walker Kessler had 15 points and 19 rebounds, while Lauri Markkanen chipped in 16 points.

Utah struggled with turnovers, committing 22 giveaways that led to easy transition buckets for Minnesota. The Jazz also played without Keyonte George (foot) and John Collins (ankle), further limiting their offensive firepower.

Edwards, who moved up to third in franchise history for points scored, acknowledged the milestone with excitement. “I was super happy when I heard it,” he said.

With Minnesota surging at the right time, Edwards continues to lead the charge as the postseason race heats up.
