The Los Angeles Lakers have hit a rough patch, dropping four consecutive games following their impressive eight-game winning streak.
A significant factor in their recent struggles has been injuries to key players, which have left the team shorthanded.
However, there is reason for optimism, as the Lakers are expected to regain some much-needed reinforcements shortly.
Before their latest defeat against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, head coach JJ Redick provided an encouraging update on the team’s injury situation.
Redick said that help is on the way, stating that LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Jaxson Hayes are all “very close to returning.”
The expectation is that all three could be back in action within the next week, which would significantly boost the roster.
James has been sidelined for the past three games due to a groin strain suffered in the second half of the Lakers’ loss to the Boston Celtics last Saturday.
The 40-year-old superstar’s absence has been felt, as the team has struggled to generate consistent offense in his absence.
Meanwhile, Hachimura has been out of commission since late February after experiencing knee soreness in a February 27 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The forward has been an important contributor for the Lakers this season, and his return would add depth and versatility to the lineup.
As for Hayes, the Lakers center has missed four consecutive games after sustaining a knee contusion in a hard fall during the team’s March 6 victory over the New York Knicks.
His presence in the frontcourt has been missed, particularly on the defensive end and in providing energy off the bench.
