The Golden State Warriors extended their winning streak to six games with a commanding 130-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night.
Stephen Curry became the first player in NBA history to hit 4,000 career three-pointers, accomplishing the milestone in the third quarter. Fans erupted in cheers, and a tribute played on the arena’s big screen during a timeout.
Playing a day before his 37th birthday, Curry entered the game needing two triples to reach the mark. His first came from the left wing in the first quarter, while the historic shot fell with 8:19 remaining in the third. He finished with 11 points, shooting 2-for-6 from deep.
Draymond Green led the Warriors with 23 points, going 4-for-7 from beyond the arc. Jonathan Kuminga returned from a right ankle injury that sidelined him for 31 games and contributed 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
Golden State continued its red-hot shooting, hitting 22 of 39 (56.4%) from three-point range. The team previously made 51.2% of its attempts from deep in their last game.
DeMar DeRozan paced the Kings with 23 points and seven assists, but Sacramento suffered its third straight loss and fourth in five games. The Kings played without Domantas Sabonis, who missed his sixth consecutive game due to a strained left hamstring.
Jimmy Butler added six points, seven assists, and five rebounds as Golden State improved to 13-2 with him in the lineup. Moses Moody also stepped up, scoring 17 points while hitting four three-pointers.
Sacramento struggled offensively, shooting 37.8% from beyond the arc and failing to slow down Golden State’s high-powered attack. Keon Ellis provided a spark off the bench with 18 points, but the Kings never recovered after falling behind early.
The Warriors led 30-18 after the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Kings in every period. Golden State’s defense held Sacramento to 18 points in the opening frame, setting the tone for the blowout win.
With the victory, the Warriors improved to 38-28, solidifying their hold on the sixth seed in the Western Conference. The Kings dropped to 33-32, currently sitting in ninth place.
