Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse provided an update on the team’s ongoing efforts to determine the best course of treatment for star center Joel Embiid.

According to Nurse, the organization is nearing a decision regarding how to proceed with addressing Embiid’s lingering left knee issues.

The former MVP has been sidelined for the remainder of the season due to the injury, prompting both Embiid and the Sixers’ medical staff to conduct multiple assessments in search of the most effective path to recovery.

Embiid is scheduled to undergo another evaluation on Saturday as the team continues to explore treatment options. In previous statements, the All-Star big man acknowledged that additional surgery would likely be required to return to optimal form.

However, since he was shut down, neither the Sixers nor Embiid’s medical team has definitively ruled out the possibility of another procedure, nor have they determined it to be absolutely necessary at this time.

Embiid has played 9 seasons for the 76ers. He has averaged 27.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 452 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 7 All-Star games and has won 1 MVP award.
