Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga will remain sidelined for the remainder of the team’s current road trip, as he has officially been ruled out for Thursday’s matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, reports Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Kuminga has been recovering from a right ankle sprain suffered on January 4 and has been participating in scrimmages, raising hopes that he might return during the Warriors’ five-game road stretch.
Despite his progress, the team has opted for a cautious approach, especially given their recent strong performance, winning seven of their last eight games.
With momentum on their side, the Warriors see no urgent need to rush Kuminga back into action, prioritizing his full recovery before reintegrating him into the lineup.
Kuminga has played 4 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 12.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 243 regular-season games. He has won 1 NBA championship.
