Anthony Davis may be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024-25 season, dealing a significant blow to the Dallas Mavericks’ playoff hopes.
This development comes on the heels of Kyrie Irving’s season-ending ACL injury, which has already reshaped the team’s postseason prospects.
Currently sitting 10th in the Western Conference, the Mavericks hold a three-game lead over the Phoenix Suns for the final play-in spot.
Davis, who suffered an adductor strain in his first game with Dallas, is now facing an uncertain future.
NBA insider Shams Charania discussed the situation on The Pat McAfee Show, stating, “I think him, his representatives, are going to huddle up. They’re going to have some hard conversations. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that one game was the last time we see Anthony Davis this season.”
Before his injury, Davis was performing at an All-NBA level, averaging 25.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.2 blocks in 34.2 minutes per game over 42 appearances.
His absence would be a massive loss for the Mavericks as they fight to remain in playoff contention.
