Philadelphia 76ers small forward Paul George, who will celebrate his 35th birthday in May, understands that his window to compete for an NBA championship is gradually closing.
With only a few prime years left in his career, the veteran forward feels the weight of each season more than ever. That reality has made the struggles of this season particularly frustrating for him, The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey writes.
“Each year is a year I can’t get back,” he said. “… I haven’t been in the best physical health this season. It’s been a lot of things going on that I have been trying to battle and fight through. … It’s frustrating that this stuff keeps popping up for me knowing that that window is closing.”
George has played 15 seasons for 4 teams, including the Pacers and Clippers. He has averaged 20.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 907 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 9 All-Star games and has won 1 Most Improved Player award.
