Following last year’s playoff run, the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland made it his mission to strengthen his physique and embrace a more physical style of play during the offseason, as reported by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon.

Rather than seeking a fresh start elsewhere, he remained fully committed to improving his game.

“In an era or day and age where so many kids push for different things to happen, to get a new start, he put his head down and grinded every single day this summer to come back and be prepared for what was coming forward,” said former Cavaliers forward and current Hawks player Georges Niang.

“I’m happy for him because he deserves it.”

Garland has spent six seasons with the Cavaliers, during which he has averaged 18.9 points, 6.7 assists, and 2.6 rebounds over 362 regular-season games.

He was also selected to participate in one All-Star game, marking a significant milestone in his career.
