Paul George, who signed a four-year, maximum-salary contract with Philadelphia last July, is experiencing one of the most challenging seasons of his career in 2024/25.

He is averaging just 16.4 points per game, his lowest since the 2011/12 season, and his shooting percentages have also dropped, with a .432 field goal percentage and .358 from three-point range, both of which are below his career averages.

Similar to fellow Sixers star Joel Embiid, George has been dealing with injuries this season, and some fans have criticized him for continuing to release podcast episodes while the team’s record has significantly declined to 20-38.

In an interview on Wednesday, George admitted that he had been considering taking a break from the podcast for a while.

“It was something that was kind of racking in my head a little bit just because of [being] new to the city, being acclimated to Philadelphia,” George explained, as reported by Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

“It just came to the point where it was like, ‘All right, this is the time to kind of take a step back for a second.’”

George has played 15 seasons across 4 teams, including the Pacers and Clippers.

In 906 regular-season games, he’s averaged 20.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. He’s a 9-time All-Star and won 1 Most Improved Player award.
