Following his announcement, the Philadelphia 76ers veteran Paul George delivered an impressive performance, scoring 25 points in New York on Wednesday, his highest total since January 24.
Despite the Sixers’ inability to hold onto a late lead after a 19-point comeback, ultimately losing to the Knicks, George had his best game in weeks. In addition to his scoring, he contributed eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
After the game, he was asked about his decision to pause his podcast, as relayed by Tim Bontemps of ESPN.
“It was more so just to focus on here,” George explained. “I haven’t been the healthiest, so it’s just been putting a ton of work towards getting my body as healthy as possible, and to keep focus of obviously being here and trying to turn things around here and the full focus is trying to get this team together.
“But we got to give ourselves a chance. Take it one game at a time, but we got to give ourselves a chance to see what we can do down the stretch.”
George has played 15 seasons for 4 teams, including the Pacers and Clippers. He has averaged 20.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 906 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 9 All-Star games and has won 1 Most Improved Player award.
