Markelle Fultz is genuinely appreciative of the opportunity he has been given to sign with the Sacramento Kings. Reflecting on his journey, Fultz explained that taking the first half of the NBA season off to focus on his physical health has put him in an ideal position to make meaningful contributions as the season progresses.

“This is the best I’ve ever felt since being in the league,” Fultz shared in an interview with The Sacramento Bee. “I never had the opportunity to take my time and get healthy, so being able to do that last summer has been great for me. I’m super excited for this opportunity and I’m thankful for it.”

Fultz remained unsigned until shortly before the All-Star break, but his delayed signing wasn’t due to a lack of interest from NBA teams. Instead, it was a strategic choice on his part. The experienced point guard prioritized his health, choosing to wait until he was completely recovered before committing to a new team.

“My knee was really bothering me, which ended up compensating and messing with my shoulder a little bit,” Fultz explained. “Being able to take the summer to really rehab my knee and get my full body the way I wanted to get without having to rush anything was big for me. I’m glad I had an opportunity to do that and now I’m able to get back on the court.”

This period of rest and focused rehabilitation allowed Fultz to approach his return to the game feeling more prepared and healthier than ever. His decision to prioritize his long-term physical condition over a rushed comeback demonstrates his commitment to being a strong contributor to his new team.

During his time with the Orlando Magic last season, Fultz showcased his abilities by averaging 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and one steal per game. Now, revitalized and injury-free, he is eager to bring his skills and experience to the Sacramento Kings, aiming to make a significant impact as they push toward the playoffs.
