Khris Middleton is officially moving on from the Milwaukee Bucks, marking the end of a 12-year chapter with the franchise. Following his trade to the Washington Wizards, the three-time All-Star shared an emotional farewell message, thanking the city and fans for their unwavering support.
“Twelve years ago, I arrived in this city as a young player with big dreams,” Middleton wrote. “Today, I leave as an NBA champion, 3x All-Star, an Olympic gold medalist, and most importantly, someone who Milwaukee helped shape into the person and player I am today.”
Middleton reflected on the Bucks’ journey from rebuilding years to title contention, highlighting the team’s historic 2021 championship run. He expressed gratitude toward the fans, organization, and Milwaukee community, calling the city his home.
The veteran forward was traded to the Wizards on February 6 as part of a four-team deal. Washington received Middleton, rookie guard AJ Johnson, a 2028 first-round pick swap, and cash considerations. Milwaukee acquired Kyle Kuzma and a 2025 second-round pick.
Middleton, 33, was averaging 12.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 23.2 minutes per game before the trade. Injuries have limited his availability in recent seasons, but he remains a proven scorer and playmaker.
His departure signals a new era for the Bucks, who are shifting their roster around two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and All-Star Damian Lillard. The addition of Kuzma provides Milwaukee with a younger, versatile forward.
Middleton played a crucial role in the Bucks’ success, becoming one of the franchise’s all-time greats. His clutch performances in the playoffs, including multiple game-winning shots, solidified his legacy in Milwaukee.
While he embarks on a new chapter in Washington, Middleton made it clear that this isn’t a goodbye. “Milwaukee will always hold a special place in my heart. This isn’t goodbye—it’s thank you,” he wrote.
