
February 14, 2025 (San Francisco, CA) – To kick-off an exciting All-Star Weekend in The Bay, NBA superstar and adidas signature athlete Damian Lillard returned to Oakland High School for a day full of community, celebration, and inspiration. The visit, filled with heartfelt moments and hometown pride, included a special school assembly and Senior Night hosted by Dame, capped off with live performances by Bay Area artists Kamaiyah, 310babii, and John Mackk.
The day began with a school-wide assembly, where Lillard addressed students, coaches, and athletes in a moving speech celebrating his roots and the role high school basketball played in his journey to the NBA. In a heartfelt announcement, Dame revealed the PSU Scholarship, a life-changing opportunity for one Oakland High student.
Following the assembly, Damian paid a visit to the Ira Jinkins Recreation Center in Oakland, where it was revealed that a basketball court would be dedicated in his honor, cementing his deep connection to the Bay Area and his legacy both on and off the court. Growing up, Damian spent countless hours at both Brookefield Park and the Ira Jinkins Center, which played a pivotal role in shaping his basketball journey and personal development.
Later that evening, Oakland High’s Senior Night & basketball game against Berkley High School became a celebration of community, hosted by Lillard himself. The event highlighted the achievements of the school’s senior athletes, with Dame delivering a motivational address that resonated deeply with the players and fans alike.
The night culminated with live performances from Bay Area artists Kamaiyah, 310babii, and John Mackk, who lit up the gymnasium and had the crowd on their feet.
