Luka Doncic reportedly made it clear to the Los Angeles Lakers front office that he wanted to play alongside a lob threat, seeking an additional option for his playmaking reads, as per ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

In response to this request, the Lakers made a move on Wednesday night, acquiring center Mark Williams.

Despite Williams’ career having seen no more than 43 appearances in a single season over his three years in the league, the Lakers are confident in his medical evaluations and are optimistic about his potential.

Williams also has a close relationship with former NBA sharpshooter JJ Redick, having worked together during their time at Duke, where Redick served as a mentor to Williams.
