A new blockbuster trade might be on the horizon in the NBA, and this time, it involves Kevin Durant. After a series of major trades, including Luka Doncic’s move to the Lakers and De’Aaron Fox’s trade to the Spurs, rival executives believe that the Phoenix Suns could be looking to deal Durant before the trade deadline.

Chris Mannix reported on X, “The Warriors are indeed serious about reuniting with Kevin Durant, sources told SI. And with efforts to acquire Jimmy Butler stalled, rival execs believe the Suns are strongly considering Durant deals before the deadline.”

Despite boasting a star-studded lineup featuring Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the Suns have faced struggles this season. Currently sitting in 10th place in the Western Conference with a 25-24 record, Phoenix has failed to find consistent success.

Durant, who won two NBA championships with the Warriors, has continued to shine this season. The 36-year-old is averaging 26.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 35.9 minutes per game. Durant is in the third year of a four-year, $194 million contract and is owed $51 million this season.

The Suns’ struggles have led some to believe that the team could look to trade Durant as part of a potential rebuild or retool. Durant’s status as one of the league’s top players makes him a valuable asset, and his departure could shake up the NBA landscape.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors are rumored to be eager to bring Durant back to the Bay Area. Sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference with a 25-24 record, the Warriors are also looking to make moves ahead of the trade deadline.

Draymond Green recently commented, “I expect Joe Lacob to be aggressive before the trade deadline,” signaling that the Warriors are ready to make bold moves.

With both teams struggling to meet expectations this season, a trade involving Durant could reshape the Western Conference. The Suns, despite their star power, may feel the pressure to shake things up, while the Warriors could see a Durant reunion as the missing piece to return to title contention.

As the trade deadline approaches, the NBA world will be closely watching to see if the Suns do indeed pull the trigger on a Durant trade. With the Warriors in pursuit, this potential deal could be one of the most significant of the season.
