Scottie Barnes scored 24 points to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 106-82 victory over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. Toronto extended its winning streak to five games, while Washington dropped its 15th straight contest.

Jakob Poeltl contributed 12 points, eight rebounds, and six assists for the Raptors, who improved to 15-32. The win marked their longest streak since April 2022, as they have now won seven of their last eight games.

Toronto delivered a strong defensive performance, allowing its fewest points of the season while forcing Washington into a season-high 27 turnovers. The Raptors capitalized on the Wizards’ miscues, scoring 22 first-half points off 15 turnovers and building a 19-point lead at halftime.

Kyle Kuzma recorded 19 points and 10 rebounds for the struggling Wizards, who fell to an NBA-worst 6-40. The team finished with its lowest scoring total and highest turnover count of the season.

The Raptors entered the night 5.5 games behind the Chicago Bulls for the final Eastern Conference play-in spot. They now return home for a four-game stretch.

Washington struggled to generate consistent offense, shooting just 38.9% from the field and 16.7% from three-point range. Jordan Poole had a rough night, managing only three points on 1-of-9 shooting.

Ochai Agbaji and Davion Mitchell each contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Toronto, while the Raptors’ bench combined for 37 points. Bruce Brown, Jamal Shead, and Orlando Robinson each added 10 points off the bench.

Washington’s reserves failed to provide enough support, with Corey Kispert and Justin Champagnie scoring eight and 12 points, respectively. The Wizards’ bench shot just 39.3% from the field.

Toronto dominated the early stages of the game, outscoring Washington 31-18 in the first quarter. The Raptors maintained control throughout, never allowing the Wizards to mount a serious comeback.

The Raptors’ defense was a key factor, as they held the Wizards to just 20 points in each of the second and third quarters. Washington’s offensive woes were compounded by its carelessness with the ball, exceeding its previous season-high turnover total of 21 before the end of the third period.

Despite Poeltl’s strong all-around game, Toronto was without Immanuel Quickley and Kelly Olynyk due to injuries. The team still managed to secure a dominant win, showcasing its depth and defensive intensity.
