The Dallas Mavericks have added center Kylor Kelley to their roster on a Two-Way contract, the team announced today. In a corresponding move, the Mavericks waived Two-Way guard Jazian Gortman. Kelley, who will wear No. 50, joins the Mavericks to bolster their frontcourt depth as they deal with injuries.
Kelley, 27, has yet to make his NBA debut but has shown promise in the G League. The 7-footer began the 2024-25 season with the South Bay Lakers, averaging 11 points and 7.2 rebounds in 27.5 minutes per game.
The signing comes as the Mavericks face the absence of center Dereck Lively II, who is sidelined indefinitely with a right ankle stress fracture. Lively had been a key contributor in the frontcourt, and his injury left Dallas searching for reinforcements.
At 24-22, the Mavericks are ninth in the Western Conference, competing for a playoff spot in a crowded field. With their frontcourt depth tested, the team hopes Kelley can help address their interior needs.
Kelley went undrafted in 2020 after playing college basketball at Oregon State, where he was known for his shot-blocking ability. Over the years, he has honed his skills in various leagues, including the G League, and now gets an opportunity to showcase his talents at the NBA level.
