The San Antonio Spurs cruised to a decisive 140-110 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Paris on Thursday, fueled by an outstanding performance from Victor Wembanyama.
Playing in front of a home crowd on French soil for the first time in his NBA career, Wembanyama recorded 30 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and five blocks. Devin Vassell added 25 points, while Harrison Barnes chipped in 20 for the Spurs, who improved to 20-22 on the season.
The Spurs showcased dominance on the glass with a staggering 57-31 rebounding advantage, which contributed significantly to their efficient 60.4% shooting from the field.
Indiana, which entered the game having won eight of its last nine contests, struggled to find rhythm on both ends of the court. Bennedict Mathurin led the Pacers with 24 points, while Pascal Siakam contributed 18. Myles Turner added 14 points but shot just 5-of-17 from the field.
The Pacers’ defense faltered as the Spurs capitalized on open looks, including a 50% shooting mark from three-point range. Indiana’s record fell to 24-20.
Jeremy Sochan’s return to the Spurs lineup provided an additional boost. After missing five straight games, Sochan delivered 13 points and nine rebounds in just 18 minutes. San Antonio also received strong bench contributions from Tre Jones, who tallied 11 points and eight assists.
The Spurs’ victory marked just their second win in the last eight games, providing a morale boost as they look to climb higher in the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile, the Pacers will need to regroup quickly, especially as they rely on their defensive identity to compete in a tightly contested Eastern Conference playoff race.
