The Golden State Warriors were handed their worst home loss in 40 years on Monday, as the Boston Celtics delivered a commanding 125-85 victory. Jayson Tatum led the charge for Boston with 22 points, while Kristaps Porzingis added 18, fueling the Celtics to a statement win.

After the game, Warriors star Steph Curry shared his thoughts on the team’s performance, emphasizing how critical scoring is to their competitiveness. “A big part of our season has been when we can’t score, we lose spirit, we lose life, we lose competitiveness,” Curry said, per Anthony Slater.

The Celtics came out firing, quickly building a double-digit lead in the first half. They took full control in the third quarter, exploding for 43 points and holding the Warriors to just 24. Jaylen Brown chipped in 17 points, while Payton Pritchard contributed 14 off the bench.

Golden State struggled mightily on both ends of the floor, shooting just 34.8% from the field. Curry, who finished with 18 points, was the only bright spot for the Warriors, while Andrew Wiggins endured a rough night, connecting on only 1 of 11 shots.

The Warriors’ shooting woes extended to beyond the arc, where they hit only 3 of 24 attempts in the first half. Golden State’s depleted roster—missing Draymond Green (calf), Jonathan Kuminga (ankle), and Brandin Podziemski (abdominal)—was unable to match Boston’s offensive firepower and depth.

While Curry struggled to find much help from his teammates, Moses Moody’s 13 points off the bench were the highest among the Warriors’ reserves. The bench, as a whole, failed to provide significant relief.

In contrast, Boston excelled in almost every facet of the game. The Celtics shot an impressive 53.3% overall and drained 20 three-pointers, showcasing their elite offensive execution. Their depth also stood out, as the bench contributed 47 points, with Sam Hauser and Luke Kornet adding 11 and 8 points, respectively.

Boston also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Warriors 50-38. The Celtics’ defense maintained constant pressure, frustrating Golden State at every turn.

With the defeat, the Warriors remain in 11th place in the Western Conference, continuing to face challenges as they look to regain their form.
