Pascal Siakam has proven to be a stabilizing presence for the Indiana Pacers throughout their season, navigating both their highs and lows with consistency and leadership.
As Dustin Dopirak of IndyStar notes, Siakam, acquired via trade before last year’s deadline, has been the Pacers’ most reliable player since joining the team.
Despite facing struggles early in the season, when the Pacers dropped to a 10-15 record, the forward’s steady contributions have been pivotal to their turnaround.
Since that point, the team has gone 12-4, including a standout win over the contending Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
One of the most impressive aspects of the former Raptors champion’s performance has been his health.
According to Dopirak, Siakam has remained free from injury and has not appeared on the Pacers’ injury report since joining the team, with the sole exception being his first game as a Pacer following the trade.
Heading into Tuesday’s game, the veteran player leads the Pacers with impressive averages of 19.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.
His efficiency has been remarkable, shooting 52.1% from the field and an impressive 40.8% from three-point range, a career-high for the veteran forward.
This shooting consistency, especially from beyond the arc, has played a key role in his ability to be a multi-dimensional threat on the floor.
Siakam is also evolving as a vocal leader for the Pacers, a role he embraced during his time with the Toronto Raptors, where he was a key contributor to their 2019 NBA championship.
This offseason, he signed a four-year, maximum-salary contract with Indiana, a move that underscored his importance to the franchise’s future.
Siakam’s commitment to excellence is clear in his words: “I put a lot of work into my craft. I think every single night, I’m ready. I’m ready however the ball is gonna go. There’s going to be times when you might get more opportunity than others.
“It’s just all about preparation. For me, I prepare every single day for these moments. Every single night I’m out there, I want to be a threat on all three levels. I want to do it consistently every single night.”
