The Denver Nuggets have quietly explored trade opportunities this season, including discussions about acquiring Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls.
Earlier in the year, the Bulls engaged in trade talks with the Los Angeles Lakers regarding LaVine, but those discussions didn’t gain much traction and ultimately fizzled out.
With the Lakers now having traded D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets, any chance of revisiting those talks appears highly unlikely.
More recently, the Bulls shifted their focus to the Denver Nuggets, initiating conversations about a potential deal involving LaVine.
While the idea of pairing LaVine with reigning MVP Nikola Jokic is intriguing, the discussions have not progressed significantly and are currently stalled.
The possibility of LaVine joining the Nuggets remains on the table, but no deal seems imminent.
Amid the trade speculation, LaVine is putting together an impressive season that only increases his value.
The dynamic wing is averaging 23.6 points per game on excellent shooting splits – 52% from the field, 44% from three-point range, and 81% from the free-throw line.
He’s also contributing 4.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, showcasing his versatility and offensive firepower.
For the Nuggets, adding a player of LaVine’s caliber could bolster their title chances by giving Jokić another elite scorer to work alongside.
However, navigating the complexities of such a trade, including matching LaVine’s salary and meeting Chicago’s demands, makes this a challenging proposition.
While the idea remains alive, Denver appears cautious about making such a significant move without the right circumstances aligning.
Until then, the Nuggets seem content to assess their options while LaVine continues to thrive in Chicago.
