CJ McCollum delivered an electrifying performance with 38 points as the New Orleans Pelicans (8-31) defeated the Philadelphia 76ers (15-21) 123-115 on Friday night.

The Pelicans were without Zion Williamson, who was suspended for violating team policies, and defensive standout Herb Jones, sidelined with a shoulder injury. McCollum’s offensive explosion proved crucial for New Orleans to secure just their third win since December 7.

Philadelphia also missed a key player, as Joel Embiid sat out his third consecutive game due to a sprained left foot. Without their All-Star center, the 76ers fell to 8-15 in games where Embiid does not play this season.

McCollum showcased his scoring efficiency, connecting on 13 of 24 shots, including six three-pointers. He also added three rebounds and three assists, leading the undermanned Pelicans to snap a two-game losing streak.

Jordan Hawkins provided critical support for New Orleans with 21 points, hitting five three-pointers. Dejounte Murray contributed a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Jose Alvarado added 13 points and nine assists off the bench.

The 76ers relied on Tyrese Maxey’s stellar playmaking and scoring. Maxey tallied 30 points and a game-high 12 assists. Paul George recorded a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, while Kelly Oubre Jr. chipped in 21 points.

New Orleans capitalized on their shooting precision, converting 45% of their three-point attempts. Their bench also stepped up, with Brandon Boston Jr. and Daniel Theis combining for 23 points.
