Domantas Sabonis delivered a standout performance with 23 points and a career-high 28 rebounds as the Sacramento Kings defeated the Boston Celtics 114-97 on Friday night. The win marked Sacramento’s sixth consecutive victory, bringing their record to 19-19, while Boston fell to 27-11.
The Kings outscored the Celtics 38-21 in the fourth quarter, using a dominant 24-9 run to seize control of the game. Sabonis’ performance not only marked his 33rd double-double of the season but also set a new season-high for rebounds in the NBA, surpassing Victor Wembanyama’s 23-rebound game earlier this season.
DeMar DeRozan contributed 24 points and nine assists, while Malik Monk added 22 points and eight assists. Keegan Murray chipped in 19 points, hitting five of eight three-pointers. Despite missing De’Aaron Fox for the third straight game, Sacramento controlled the paint with a 48-40 scoring advantage and outrebounded Boston 56-43.
Jaylen Brown led the Celtics with 28 points, while Kristaps Porzingis recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jayson Tatum finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds but committed eight turnovers, the most by any Boston player this season. The Celtics struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 26.8% compared to Sacramento’s 38.3%.
The game was tied at 76 entering the fourth quarter, but the Kings’ offense surged while their defense stifled Boston’s key players. Sacramento’s bench also provided crucial contributions, with Trey Lyles grabbing 11 rebounds and Devin Carter scoring 11 points in just over 17 minutes.
