P.A.O.K.- A.E.K. 79-75
A.E.K. surprised their opponents and started the game playing very aggressive defense, which allowed them to take control of the game, 13-25 after 10′. Sakota was on fire after the restart and PAOK had serious trouble on offense, being unable to get a roll, resulting in a 33-46 halftime score.
Momentum shifted when PAOK started the second half with a 9-0 run and by the end of the quarter Hutcher added 3 more to bring the game within 10 points, 59-69. It was now time for AEK to face serious offensive problems and combined with PAOK’s outside shooting, the home side got in front 70-69. “Enosis” equalized but another Hutcher (MVP with 19 points, 5 assists) shot behind the arc, gave “Dikefalos tou Vorra” a huge home win, in a classic derby. Sakota had 15 for the defeated club.
Trikala B.C.- Koroivos Amaliadas 85-74
Koroivos was able to hold on to the game until the end of the 3rd period where they gave up a 25-15 partial score, and they could not return to chase the win for the final 10 minutes. Conger led his side to the win with his 23 points but the player who really shined was Davis for Koroivos, with 30 points and 10 rebounds.
Apollon Patras- A.G.O.Rethimno 75-57
Part poor offensive execution for AGOR and part great defensive display for the hosts to reach the win behind Mayers and Labropoulos’ 15 points. Rethimno had Carter adding 18 points but he was the only one with double digits for his club.
Lavrio G.S.- Kavala B.C. 99-63
Lavrio has built a very strong offensive side and the game against Kavala was a good proof. They scored 57 points at the second half and drew distance from Kavala, having several players on fire all game long. Keselj added 15 at his second game for the team while Culmbali and Balds both scored 16.
Arkadikos- A.E.N.K. 64-78
Arkadikos is in a tough spot at the League table and again this weekend they failed to protect their home court against AENK, which managed to set the pace right from the tip-off as the allowed only 9 points and finished the first period leading 9-24. Same thing went on until the end of the half with Arkadikos slightly improving their stats on offense but the score after 20′ was 27-48. With such a hot start AENK only had to fight back against Arkadikos’ last attempt to make a comeback and end the game taking the win on the road, having Lowery leading their scoreboard with 18 points, but top scorer of the match was Kavvadas with 27p. for the defeated team.
Panathinaikos- Aris 80-69
Short time after those two sides met each other for the Greek Cup semi-finals, Panathinaikos dominated Aris again, this time based on their great start, 22-7 after 10 minutes of play. Good display from the “Greens” until halftime sealed the deal for them, Aris maybe played their worst game this season and only made the final score look more decent after they slightly reduced the point margin at the end. MVP was Vlado Jankovic with 17 points and 8 rebounds. The “Emperor” is not at his best since this defeat with the very bad 18/51 2-point attempts, comes straight after a mid-week poor performance against Armani Jeans Milano for the Eurocup.
Kolossos Rhodes- Olympiacos 53-73
After a relaxing trip in Crete last week, this time the “Reds” traveled to Rhodes to defeat the local club playing solid basketball through the second half, when Kolossos could not keep a low scoring pace they had established on the game. Strawberry was the top scorer of the game with 16 points while Mantzaris had a very mature game with 5 points 8 rebounds and 5 assists too.
