The Phoenix Suns are reportedly shopping starting center Jusuf Nurkic, as confirmed by Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. The Suns’ front office is actively exploring trade scenarios and seeking another big man in exchange.

Among the players mentioned in the ongoing trade discussions are Washington Wizards’ Jonas Valanciunas and Chicago Bulls’ Nikola Vucevic.

These potential deals reflect Phoenix’s continued effort to improve its roster and bolster its frontcourt depth as they aim to contend for a playoff spot in a highly competitive Western Conference.

In addition to talks surrounding Nurkic, there are still ongoing conversations regarding a possible trade with the Miami Heat involving star player Jimmy Butler.

This potential deal has gained traction following a report from Marc Stein, and discussions indicate that Phoenix might try to make the trade work with Bradley Beal included as a salary-matching component.

However, the deal hinges on Beal waiving his no-trade clause, a significant condition that could complicate matters.

This marks a sharp contrast to his numbers from last season, where he averaged 10.9 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists, highlighting his potential as a more prominent contributor when fully integrated into the system.

Phoenix originally acquired Nurkic as part of a major three-team trade during the offseason, which sent Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks and Deandre Ayton to the Portland Trail Blazers.

This move was designed to address the Suns’ need for a center with more experience, but now it appears that Phoenix may be rethinking that decision as they look to adjust their roster.

Nurkic’s contract adds a layer of complexity to the potential trade discussions. He is signed through next season, earning $18.125 million this year and set to bring in $19.375 million next season.
