The Toronto Raptors have faced numerous challenges with injuries this season, but this week brought some much-needed good news, particularly regarding forward Scottie Barnes.

What initially appeared to be a serious setback now seems to be shaping into an encouraging comeback for both Barnes and the team.

After suffering what was feared to be a significant ankle sprain, it was expected that Barnes would be sidelined for several weeks.

However, in a positive turn of events, he has been upgraded to questionable for Thursday’s game, signaling that his return to action could be just around the corner.

The player took a major step forward on Wednesday, participating fully in the Raptors’ practice, including full-contact drills.

Afterward, he spoke optimistically about his recovery, noting that his ankle felt strong following the session.

“I’m so happy that it wasn’t as serious as I thought it was going to be,” Barnes said, reflecting on the injury that initially caused significant concern.

Barnes has spent four seasons with the Raptors, where he has consistently contributed, averaging 16.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists across 225 regular-season games.

His achievements include being named Rookie of the Year and earning a spot in one All-Star game.
